I have two of the Pineapples and the Tiki head. They fade pretty quickly, but my fat Bronze Cat liked to sit in it.
They are no longer in the tank, but I do have two Minions surfing on a wave in the Betta tank so I'm doing my bit for plastic waste :)

Shallow tanks are way easier to light up well. Also definitely avoid any natural daylight hitting it if u can.
On the other hand, deep tanks give you chance to have a range of fish, bottom, mid and topwater which can be nice. They also give more scope for aquascaping and big plants. Take a look...
I'm very glad you put NRL at the bottom, they are troglodytes with an identical body shape who like getting smacked in the head repeatedly.

Well that's how long it just took to clean, change water and trim the plants in my 10gal, 2.5g Betta and 5g Brine shrimp tanks (and I even skipped the additional external filter on the 10gal)
If you have plenty of money, definitely get someone else to do it.
I have a 10 gallon planted freshwater and you'd be surprised at how much the things cost to maitain properly. Every week there is something else to buy. It also takes a few hours a week to keep looking good. Although you're paying someone to do it so no big deal.
